VFW Members, Veterans and Esteemed Community Members,
On this solemn 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause as a grateful nation to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken from us in the terrorist attacks on our homeland. We remember the families who still carry the weight of that day, the survivors whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger with courage, duty, and selfless resolve.
For members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, September 11 is more than a date in history. It is a reminder of the cost of freedom, the strength of the American spirit, and the generations of service members who answered the call in the years that followed. Many served far from home, many returned with wounds seen and unseen, and many gave their last full measure of devotion in defense of our nation and our way of life.
As we reflect on this milestone anniversary, let us honor the victims, first responders, military members, veterans, families, and communities forever shaped by that tragic day. Let us also recommit ourselves to the unity, compassion, vigilance, and service that brought Americans together in the aftermath of 9/11.
May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who rose, and the sacrifices made in the name of liberty. May we continue to stand together as one nation, under God, committed to remembering our past, supporting one another, and preserving the freedoms for which so many have served.
